Dr McKevitt grew up and studied medicine in the UK before migrating to Australia in 1991. After training as a General Practitioner he completed the primary and commenced Obstetrics and Gynaecology training before finally deciding to become an anaesthetist. He completed his specialist training at the Royal Brisbane, Children and Women’s Hospitals and a provisional fellow year in Cardiac Anaesthesia at Prince Charles Hospital. Here he worked as a staff specialist before gaining a VMO position at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in cardiac anaesthesia in 1997. In the same year he joined the Narcosia Anaesthetic Group.
